Michael was an inspirational teacher. I started lessons with the De Costa Academy at 15 years old. He introduced me to opera only a few lessons in and I absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed my lessons and looked forward to them each week. Being part of the regular concerts gave me confidence in singing in front of an audience and provided a grounding for performance techniques. Michael sang at every concert with his students. He was a great mentor and support for me and others. Since leaving the Academy in my early 20s, I had the chance to perform professionally around the UK and Ireland. Twenty years on, I am still singing and doing the occasional professional engagement. Thanks to Michael for all his guidance, advice and support.
