I had singing lessons with Mike for a number of years and my "slot" was 4pm on Fridays.  What a great way to end the week!  I came away lifted in spirit, cycled home on my pink folding bike (which Mike was amazed by), had another spirit (in the form of a G&T!) and my weekend began.  Singing was a true tonic.  

I shall always remember the joy on Mike's face when, after hours of trying, I managed my first trill.  He was like Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady... "She's got it, by jove, she's got it!" Michael's belief in me and my voice enabled me to sing in many concerts and operas and his philosophy of "What's the point in learning to sing if no-one's ever going to hear you?" was spot on for his professional and his legacy.

Love to all close to Michael at this sad time and it's great to hear that the academy will continue to support and develop singers and their talents.
