My First Lesson - Dan Byrne

Created by Dan 2 years ago

Before I ever met Michael, I was thought to be tone deaf by not only myself but everyone else around me. I could not sing to save my life and was once told in the school choir to lip-sync as I was so out of tune that it would have disrupted the entire performance. Initially I thought all I was capable of being was an actor until I met Michael after finding his website and his academy. I decided that I would give it one last try and if this didn't work I would come to the conclusion that I was never meant to sing. And in that one hour lesson, it took me a total of 45-50 minutes to sing a single note in tune. But unlike most vocal teachers, who for the most part would've given up on me long before 25 minutes let alone 40, Michael never once made me feel bad or like I was a disappointment. He showed me the ultimate patience and kindness which then made me feel relaxed and comfortable enough to sing that one note. And from there, that same patience and kindness has led to me singing songs that two years ago I would have never been able to dream of singing. And I owe it all to Michael De Costa. He has always been invested in me, believed in me and helped me when I needed him and I cannot be more proud to call myself his student. Michael I love you, I miss you. Rest in Peace.
